Hi, Can anyone send me info on an Otis J Vintage J 01 door operator. It seems Oriental. The motor is Japanese. Big green box on car top which contains cams, resitors & DC motor.

Thanks The Liftman

Hi There, I toured the Nippon Otis Sibayama Works factory that was built in 1975 when they closed the Kamata Works factory in Tokyo that opened in 1933. Its right by the Narita Airport they have a test tower and everthing even dormatory for training. Otis has over 18 offices in Japan and most Japanese elev mechanics live at the factory and have training for two years prior to going out in the field on their motorcycles for service work. There main office is in Shinjuku the Las Vegas of Japan. The spec control series came out of Japan and a lot of heavy drive equipment found its way offshore but I dont remember that operator but will try and find out.

This sounds very like the Otis MRDS Operator. Originated in Japan, used extensively in Europe during the late 80s and the 90s. A cost reduced version produced in France, sounds like you've got the original Japanese version though.
