SOLD ONE!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

Well, well, well! I just this minute received an email from Texas Fish and Game Magazine, requesting my current addy so they can send me a CHECK! Just the old nostalgia article about fishing with Dad's memory.

I have no idea how much money it'll be; not much I'm sure, but still - money for writing! That's a first for me. When the check comes, we'll all get together here, and decide what to spend it on. I'm thinking a brand new pencil would be nice.

OK, OK!!! Isn't it about time that the rest of you guys showed up with congratulary brownies, mule kisses, hugs and smoochies and such?

Carol is always at the front of the line nowadays (thanks sweetie!), and a cyber pat-on-the-back from my old buddy Robert is great, but c'mon - I'm PUBLISHED! That ought to at least rate an attaboy or two (don't forget, I get money, even!) I'm warning you, when the Brinks truck shows up with my payment, you'll be sorry. Me and Robert and Lon Frankenstien will just go to visit Carol by ourselfs, that's what!

Robert, if you promise not to tell Aunt Bee... I can let you in on a little secret. There are brownie mixes you can get that require less than 3 ingredients (so You could make them). They do not taste like Aunt Bee brownies, but they are sweet and chocolaty and available with only a small amount of effort. You could maybe even talk Jean into making them and sharing them with you. They are far superiour to faxed brownies, just ask Lon :-)

Hey, congrat's Lon. We am so jealous! Not bad. Let me know when your piece comes out in print, and I'll get an issue. You can use my smoking jacket for your interviews with the Wurlitzer Prize committee if you want. It's unused as I don't smoke. I just keep it around for when I become a published author(ity) myself! Meanwhile, can I borrow a few bucks?

-- J (jsnider@hal-pc.org), February 28, 2005.

Thanks, J! Whyn't you come on over to the dock and I might have enough moola to buy some NEW stink bait. You know, the real good smellin' store-bought kind, and maybe a coupla Big Orange sodas, too. (I got credit down to Ledue's now, even!)

And, we been friends for over 40 years you know, so I think you surely could borrow some money. Speak to Gayla.......

-- helen (mul@prepares.to.order.his.copy), March 04, 2005.

That is such great news, Lon! We're both very happy for you, and hope this is but the first of many more sales to come!
