Trying to reanimate Serge 3 stop hydro relay logic with telephone type relays after 3 years shut down. Finally it runs from terminal to terminal floors, never stops on interm. floor because 2P never picks up (set-reset 3 wire coil is O'K). Print is mostly washed out but the part I need is O'K. Need help to understand the concept of stepping. I'll E-mail the print ASAP. Any help will be appreciated. Danny Way.

Check the door zone relay and the sensor. However the door zone relay is picked be sure it is stepping through each door zone. I just repaired a 19 story MCE that would run only term to term. I found the door zone pick-up sensor was shorted, causing the DZ relay to stay energized.

As far as I can remember, that selector working like binary system. bottom floor is 1p, 2nd landing is 2p, 3rd landing is 1p and 2p. etc. each p relay has 2 coils, if both has power, relay drop. If only one coil has power, relay pick up. Pulse signal coming from vane mounting on each floor in the shaft. good luck!!

Hi Danny,I visited Serge in New Jersy once and the y had 3 versions of controls was the old serge like you have with the large clucky homemade relays then they went to the ice cube relays with the diode binary selector that had a million diodes then they went to the IDEC FA2J or GE plc controls with IPC control boards then they were bought out. I saw the machine that made those black plastic LU LD DZ units mounted on the elevator car top. You might not have that vintage leveling units but look there first.

The best thing is to make a working copy of your print and keep the washed out one for referance and when you check circuits out, mark up your working copy and also find other similar prints that are not washed out to fiqure out areas of your print that are unreadable. Keep looking at the print you will figure it out.
