Hello Vic, No, there haven't been any shim recalls. I vaguely recall an isolated camshaft lobe issue on one bike only, but that was years ago. Hope that helps!

HELLO I OWN ONE OF THE FIRST 750 F4 IMPORTED IN FRANCE IN JANUARY 2000 AND THE ENGINE SEIZED AT LOW REVS AFTER 2000 KMS. AFTER ENGINE DISSASSEMBLY WE FOUND ONE INTAKE CAMSHAFT LOBE COMPLETELY WORN (MORE THAN 3MM OF STEEL WAS GONE) AND THE CORRESPONDING VALVE BUCKET WAS DESTROYED AS WELL. THIS CAUSED THE VALVE STEM TO BEND AND STAY OPEN AND HIT THE PISTON CROWN.ALL THE UPPER PART OF THE ENGINE WAS OUT(CYLINDER HEAD, PISTON, CYLINDER AND ONE TWIWTED CONNECTING ROD) THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO THE MV FACTORY FOR ANALYSIS AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW ONE IN EXCHANGE. MY F4 HAS NOW 12.000 KMS WITH THE NEW ENGINE AND NO MORE PROBLEMS. I HAVE HEARD THAT SEVERAL EARLY F4 HAD THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF A BATCH OF CAMSHAFTS THAT WERE INCORRECTLY HEAT TREATED.

HOPE THIS WILL HELP. HERVE

Vic, yes there was recall for buckets and shims on 2000 model. My bike had this done along with gearbox selector mod ,clutch slave, front brakes, and inlet manifold which was porous.eng # 738 I think. I think you may find a list of the "Recalls" on MVOC website, some were not official, only if problem arose ,when my gearbox stuck in 4th and I called dealer it was a known fault but not official recall, same with inlet man. The only official recall notice's I have received from 3X were, for front brakes ,and oil filter I think 3 times.
