Is the DS54 easier to program then the DS52 for turn out (switches) with no computer knowledge.

Alexander,

The DS54 is a lot more sophisticated than the DS52. It costs more per turnout and due to its increased sophistication and functionality, the DS54 is harder to program. If you don't need any of the features that the DS54 has over the DS52, use the DS52. I assume that you are a Digitrax user. If not, you will need a computer program that talks Loconet to use some of the DS54 features.

I use DS54s because I need the extra features. If you need the same, or some, of the features that I do, then you can use the information on my website to tell you how to program it. This will save you the trouble of figuring out how to program it. I use my DS54s to control slow motion switch machines, provide turnout position feedback, and provide block detection.
