Any information on the Hotel Terminal

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

Okay, wondering if anyone had any information on the Hotel Terminal in San Francisco. It was within a block ot two of the Ferry Building, a 5 - 8 story building of brick, with one face on Market Street and one on Clay. So far as I know, the building existed into the 1970s. Specifically, anyone know where (besides the Sanborn maps) I might look for info on thie hotel? Or does anyone remember it? Survived the quake I believe, I've found a postcard image and seen a few incomplete images through the ohoto collection in th elibrary, but looking for more. Thanks,

jeff

Market and Clay Streets don't cross and aren't even close. Are you thinking of Merchant or Commercial Street?

You're right, I was thinking of the lot I guess, and thinking of Sacramento Street; Clay is too far away. I don't have the map in front of me, but one of the maps indicates an "L" shaped lot with one face on Market, and one on Sacramento. I suppose the building itself only occupies part of that lot. It would have been just around the corner from Bernstein's Fish Grotto.

Hi Jeff

As of 1963 I have info showing the hotel at 60 market St. and their phone number was SU 1-3100.
