what's best enlarger for a principiant

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: URL Review : One Thread

Hi, I've tried printing black and white with an old Agfa Varioscop enlarger, and i fell in love with b/w photo. Now, I'm looking for a good and simple enlarger for 35mm till 6*6 with diffuse lightning and for multigrade paper. I'm looking for a Durst one, but there are too many. Who can help me choosing one? Thanks

I like the durst but Besseler does have some wonderful enlargers. I use the 67C witch allows great versitility with 35mm, 645 and 6x6. Besseler supplies are cheaper and the base allows for easy removal. I often use it to project upon the wall of floor depending on what size I am printing.

If I had though to buy a durst, I would get the equal to the Besseler 23C which is the Durst Laborator 1200. This enlarger allows one to print up to 4x5 negs.

Hope this helps a bit.....

Try the 67C or the 23C just for comparision first. 1/2 the price
