How to function in a body cast after surgerygreenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread |
Hello, my name is Becky and my son is 14 years old and just diagnosed with bilateral acetabular dysplasia. The doctor who made the diagnosis has gave us an opinion for a different surgery for each side one was a Chiari/Shelf and the other was a Osteotomy. He said that both surgeries "may" be able to be performed at the same time. He has advised us that my son will be in a body cast from his chest to his toes for appx. 4-7 weeks. Has anyone else been immobilized for this length of time, if so what were your problems & solutions during that time. Also, if anyone has any specific advise for deciding on the best possible surgeon for the procedure, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
