ACETABULAR SCLEROSIS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

I RECENTLY HAD A HIP X-RAY FOLLOWING A LEG INJURY AFTER RUNNING.

THE RESULT WAS THE FOLLOWING:

'THERE ARE EARLY DEGENERATIVE CHANGES IN BOTH HIP JOINTS, WITH SUPERIOR JOINT NARROWING AND SOME ACETABULAR SCLEROSIS. NO OTHER BONY LESION SEEN'

I WOULD ADD THAT I AM 36 YEARS OLD WITH NO DEFINATE FAMILY HISTORY OF R/A OR O/A.

COULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS REPORT TO ME IN LAYMANS TERMS.

REGARDS,

I'm not a radiologist but I do have hip dysplasia, diagnosed at the age of 28, and it was initilly missed on plain films at a community hospital. Dysplasia can contribute to early (becusae you are young!) degenerative changes in the joint such as narrowing and sclerosis. I would go to a specialist with your films for a consultation.
