I believe that Richard Gere's origins are hungarian; his last name Gere is a common and very hungarian name, actually one of Hungary's best wine makers is Attila Gere ( http://www.gere.hu/ ). I have also read on a hungarian web site about famous hungarians and his name was on the list ( http://hungary.blaguss.at/p_pullers.php ).
