What's Next?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anarchy 2 : One Thread

So now that we've beaten Iraq, Liberia, North Korea, and Christ knows what else to death, what do you think they'll be asking our future prez's next? What stances do you think they'll take? Here's what I think:

Stem cell research: Dubya's against it because we get the cells from babies that the mom was going to throw away anyway (at least we get some use out of it) and of course Kerry's all for it.

Gay marriage: Kerry's probably grossed out by it, but hey we need the homo-vote so AOK, and of course Bush works the whole "sanctity of marriage" angle.

Alternative energy: God help us all on this one. Odds are in his heart of hearts, Bush doesn't want to see this because his family is oil-rich, but he'll say he supports it because he knows there aren't enough dollars in the world to replace petroleum. Kerry's all for it too, but nobody knows what budget/tax overhauls we'll have to make. I think this is one of (if not THE) the biggest issues and it doesn't matter who's in the Oval Office, we really can't afford (literally) to fuck this up.

Anybody?

Ok I have to run

"Stem cell research: Dubya's against it because we get the cells from babies that the mom was going to throw away anyway (at least we get some use out of it) and of course Kerry's all for it"

I for one in many ways agree with the research. I do understand why many people are against it though. They are afraid that it will make abortion more popular or even very profitable. I do not know where to stand on abortion any longer..... I think that until we can prove that the babby is not a living human being then we shouldnt do it.... Why take the risk of killing millions of innocent people?

"Gay marriage: Kerry's probably grossed out by it, but hey we need the homo-vote so AOK, and of course Bush works the whole "sanctity of marriage" angle. "

They gay vote is harldy a decisive vote... as seeing gays make up like .01 % of the population. Also polls show MOST americans are against gay merriage....... So I dont see how kerry can gain an advantage.

What polls would those be?

I am against using abortion as a method of contraception, because you know that a lot of people in this country are irresponsible, and I don't want people to bear in mind that they could always just go down to Planned Parenthood if they do something stupid.

I believe that abortion should be offered for women who are pregnant as a result of a rapist/incestual attack. I've read that some children who are the product of rape/incest that are raised by the victimized mother will often develop severe emotional problems later in life, as well as the mother.

Yet, I also believe that much care should be taken when confronted with a woman who claims that she was raped, because there are a lot of women who like to lie about these things.

Homosexual rights/marriage/etc.: Hey, the fags aren't gettin' it on in my front yard, so why the fuck should I give a shit? This whole conservative opposition to the homos wanting a marriage license is all bullshit. Why do they protest them? What damage can these queers actually do to our country (I expect an answer for this)?

Yeah, I'm probably the only Christian who'll say these things to you.
