Neither necessarily one or the other. Nativists (not the -ism) can regard some innate differences as quantitative (as in different levels of intelligence) or as qualitative (as in the ability of only humans to use full-blown language).Pre-emptive defense: do not challenge the veracity of these examples. They are not put forward as self-evident truths, only as exampls of positions held by *some* nativists, in order to show that the nativist position *alone* commits one to neither a belief in only qualitative nor quantitative differences.
