brutale gas mileage : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I bought a 2004 Brutale S recently. It now has 400 miles on it. The bike seems to be running fine in all respects ... but one: I have been getting only 22-23 mpg in typical street riding. By typical, I mean a mixture of rural roads, highway, and a bit of in-town traffic. My riding has not been particularly aggressive.

Am I safe in concluding that something is wrong? Or do many of these bikes get terrible mileage? What has your experience been?

Sadly this is normal. All the F4's (750cc & 1000cc) are much better so this seems to only be a problem for the Brutale. Mine has over 6,000k's on it now and it hasn't gotten any better.

I actually ran out commuting to work with only 110 miles on a full tank.

Get rid of the katalyser and install the replacement normal pipes with the chip and you will have the same mileage as the others.

My dealer told me that MV is aware and is working on this.

22 mpg is about what I get in city with 2k miles on the bike.

Hi Folks,

there will be soon a solution available, without spending dollars and dollars for another MV-Goodie that doesnīt work (like the gas-saving eproms...).

Actually itīs not official yet, but soon there will be a tool on the market (big brand) that cuts off the massive fuel consumption on the brutale.

On my Brutale a prototype is installed and Iīm saving 3 Liters/100kms. Right now my Brutale is consuming 8 l/100kms! I donīt notice a better throttle response or some extra power, because the development engineer just put the Box on my Brutale just fixing the fuel/air ratio. When the new model is coming, he will try to program a map, that not just saves fuel, but also improves the engine-perfomance.

You will get the news and more facts about the box (you all know the name...) when it arrives!

The problem is indeed the ludicrous fuel/air ratio, on my Brutale, I solved the problem with the PowerCommander. Much better throttle response, from 3 to 8hp more now and approx 7,5 - 8/100km.

The Dynojet Powercommander could be available Jan. 2005. The are working on the mappings right now. Regards Arne
