You know, I was watching C-SPAN last night, and caught a few minutes of the Green and Libertarian Party candidate's debate. The Libertarian guy made a pretty good point. He said that if you have a hornet nest on your property, you'll probably be okay if you mind your own business. If, however, you're a Rep...(oops) idiot, and start throwing rocks at the nest...y'know. He made another good point that we've had a "War on Poverty", which is at an all-time high, we've had a "War on Drugs" and illegal drug use increased astronomically in the 80's, and is now at an all-time high, and now we have a "War on Terror". Hmm...

I guess my real question is whether or not anybody here actually believes that 9-11 was unprovoked. Are we perpetuating terrorism merely by maintaining a presence in the Middle East?

No. Terrorism has always been in the Middle East since 1948. And no, we're not perpetuating terrorism, the Islamic fundamentalist fanatics are. They're the ones who attaced innocent people all over the planet, not the people themselves. All we're doing (though a bit late) is responding to this global evil.
