In arc welding, the light can be damaging to the eyes. In most forms of resistance welding, the light from weld sparks coming from between spot, seam, or projection welding electrodes or weld metal is not known to be damaging to the eyes; although the spark particles can burn or puncture into an eye. Resistance flash weld arc may be damaging to the eye for some metals. There is more info in "Resistance Welding Safety for Operators" available through www.weldbook.com
