Getting Ready for Fall.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

Much of the country is already experiencing early Fall-like weather. Now is the time to begin preparing for a cold winter. I think it prudent for all of us to get that wood in early this year. Make sure that cellar gets full now. Start planning your fall butchering, and think about extending your gardening season. Everyone should have all the extras in place. Lamp oil, water, generator, alternative heat source, and good warm clothing. I know it seems funny to think of this in August, but this winter could show up early. We didn't make it too much above 70 here in the south.

yes we had a cool summer also till the last week and now it has decided to be hot summer. I agree with you that we may be in for a early cold winter. So we have been busy canning , freezing all the garden surplus, potatoes and onions are in and stored, propane tanks are filled, and the wood had been cut, cured and stacked for the winter months. I have cleaned and filled my kerosene lanterns and lamps. Still working on getting a bigger generator. Lauraleah in Missouri

Yes it got a little warmer this week her as well. However, it is comforting to know that summer is almost over:)
