Welding Thermocouple Wire to a Copper Tab

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I am considering using a copper tab to spot weld thermocouple wires to as a junction to extend each leg of the thermocouple. Actually the assembly is a series of TCs connected in parallel. My Copper tab will be approximately 0.032" thick and the ANSI Type K TC conductors will be 16 to 18 gage solid.

Is this going to work or should I use an alternative metal to copper?
