DLA chasing shortfall

My partner is being chased by DLA on behalf of Abbey National for a mortgage shortfall after her house was reposessed 5 years ago. They have reduced the amount they say is outstanding by 50% (about 11.500 now). We have have been through the process of arguing with them and have used a solicitor (not much use). We are tired of it all now and want to offer a full & final settlement (they have indicated that they are prepared to consider a reduced lump sum). Problem is we haven't the money to do this at present. The question is, and it might be a stupid one, but are their any instances when a lender or those acting for them, have accepted a sum in instalments, i.e. 3,000 at 50 a month for 5 years?

Dont do it !

Follow the advice on this site, firstly you must get DLA/Abbey to prove that you owe them money, if they cant prove it then they have no case, you need to look at the do's and dont's section.

Dont give in .

Hang fire and don't panic. Don;t commit to anything with DLA.

As one of DLA/Abbey's "customers" I'll try and give you some advice but will e mail you directly as they read these postings.

Firstly can you post details as to whether or not you have admitted liability or not. Also let us know what you financial situation is re employment or if you are on benefits, or have any assets like another property etc.

Have you SARN'd them?? Check the site for info and if you haven;t done this make it a priority. DLA will record phone conversations so stop talking to them by phone. If they pester you on the phone call BT and they will give you a month's free "choose to refuse" which will allow you to bar calls from a specific number.

Did you have a MIG and do you feel you were mis sold a MIG???

Was your property undersold???
