What regulations apply to computer monitor glass mounted in an elevator?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

I'm working on a project in which a computer will be hard-mounted to a wall in an elevator. I've been warned that 16 CFR 1201 and/or ANSI A17 may apply to the glass on the computer screen. I've found the scope of 16 CFR 1201 and it only appears to apply to doors, windows, etc. Hoever, I've not been able to find a scope for ANSI A17. I welcome any thoughts regarding this matter.

Thanks in advance,

Carl

I assume that you intend to use flat screen or plasma screen for power requirement ,running clearances etc. for the computer display, so the same regulations that would apply to flat screen indicator display unit should apply I am not sure what sort of fumes would be given off if one was broken. You could always check with a computer supplier, or if the screen is purely for display and not touch sensetive & ineractive it could be behind the same glass used for the doors
