Where does Chip go for Sports exhaust please?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Hi All.

I have just purchased some nearly new titanium cans and chip. The guy only had them on his bike for a month, but never actually fitted the chip.

Can anyone tell me where this fits? I have taken off the ecu from under the tail section, but the only way into that was to remove a large 2 inch grommet on the back. Upon removing this, i look inside but nothing i can see resembles the chip to go in.

Any ideas please? All help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there any adjustment i should make to the fueling, like the mixture, should it be rolling roaded or just adjusted on emmisions? again i will be very greatful to all responses.

Happy riding to all of you. great web/chat/discussion site

Paul

power commander is the way to go plus some dyno time it gets you a fuel map for your bike that can't be beat i have one with standard exhausts and it made a huge difference - as in an additional 9 bhp at the wheel and super smooth throttle response. I assume (not having replaced it)the chip goes in the engine management control box under the seat as with ducati's

the chip is under the foil cover that says do not remove ( you have to remove it) the chip is not easy to remove or replace.Be very carefull not to bend any pins when installing the new one. dont forget to seal it back over again with tape. Regards Les

Be sure to use a grounding strap so you don't fry the brain box...that would cost a few bux

You were in the right place Paul, remove the grommet and the chip has a plastic cover hooked over it to help hold it in place ! You can unhook it with some long nosed pliers and you'll see the chip underneath.

You may need to get it set up with the new chip, my fuelling is piss poor at the bottom end since I put the RG3 chip in. I'm working on getting it sorted. Alternatively go for the Power commander, they seem to work OK.

Cheers
