Summer Research at SEA for Teachers - Funded

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Middle School Science : One Thread

Spend summer on a "fully equipped sailing research vessel ( Tall Ship!)...in Woods Hole, Massachusetts?" Read on. (from Sharon Sky Hawk Reidy)

The seminar is funded by the National Science Foundation program and is Oceanographic Research Experience for Middle and High School Teachers that affords the opportunity to explore the oceanic environment while learning about the scientific research process first-hand. Using our fully equipped sailing research vessel ( Tall Ship!) as the platform, and calling upon the expertise of oceanographers from the Woods Hole scientific community, Research at SEA allows learning through personal experience how research scientists pose and attempt to answer scientific questions. Participants gain first-hand experience in conducting scientific investigations in the field, and the enhanced knowledge base necessary to offer similar experiences to their students. In addition, living and studying aboard a sailing research vessel presents a personal challenge that refreshes and revitalizes one's teaching!

You'll be amazed how this experience will enhance your ability to bring investigative learning into the classroom! Unfortunately, this is our last year offering this fully funded program. The web link is:
