Seven + Consecutive Days

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Law Of The Workplace : One Thread

My employer recently informed me that the company can REQUIRE me to work seven or more consecutive days in a row. Upon reviewing the California Labor Code, it stated that my employer must give me at least one day's rest in seven. When I mentioned this to my supervisor, he in so many words threatened my furute within the company, and stated that he can work me any amount of days as he chooses. Now, bare in mind that my job is not in railroad, the entertainment industry, or any government institution. I am a non-union forklift operarator. I don't mind O/T, but 13 consecutive days is a little much. Without signing any agreement, can my company obligate me to work more than seven days?
