hey , does any one kno if it is possible to put a weed wacker or chain saw motor on a mountain bike if so how would i mount it on and what stuff will i need

I am trying to do the same thing right now, here was, and is my thought process. I think a chain saw engine is the best engin to use on a mountain bike, connecting a chain from it to the first gear on the pedals, and running the bike on the 3rd gear (if it is at least a 21 speed, or has three sprokets on the pedals)and because a chain saw has a clutch of some sort in it, you can use it

yes it is possible i bought a thng that monts the motor to your bike that is a whipper snipper (wheed wacker or whateva u call em). it bolts through the triangle at the back of your bike and a lever lowerits to your your tire which u keep in place my lever. it wouldnt be hard to make but i dont have a photo4 u. a chainsaw would be a pain to do but it would be easier witht he weed wacker. my bmx has no back spin, so the brake is by peals. the engins sits to the left of the bike back tire. it then is held in place by the contraption, but it isnt hard to weld something up to hold it on the back tire. then from the engine there is a roller that sits on the tire. chuck a throttole on it, petrol in it. and of u go.

yes its possible iam doing it right now. buy som epegs at walmart or something and put one on the back left side of the tire. then just mount it and make your the shaft is on the tire, run throtle cord up to your handle bars and your grand. lol

hell yeah what kinda bike add a coaster gear and then add a sprocket with a ratio giving the chainsaw some revs and voila hey check out chainsaw bikes there is alot more info bud I got a 44cc trike lowrider 21 speeds still work and pedals don't spin when motor goes sharing same drive gears with a transfer gear

I know it is possible to do this. I myself am involved with building a pocket bike using a 36cc gas powered chainsaw engine. I chose a little kid bike thats about 3 1/2 feet long, and has a good strong frame. The reason I chose this size is because you can do unbelievable tricks on it, since it is so small. Good Luck!

I am also trying to put a 37cc chainsaw engine on a mountain bike. I am going to run a chain from the chainsaw to the largest sprocket on the front and power the bike with the smallest sprocket on the front going to she back wheel.
