How do you adjust the idle?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Hi All,

My '01 F4S idles at around 8-900 RPM, right on the edge of stalling - especially when it's cold. I'd like to adjust it up to the 1,150-1,250 range recommended in the owner's manual. Does anyone know/have a link to how the idle is adjusted? Is this something that can be done personally or is does the dealer have to do it through the computer?

Thanks in advance for your help,

your problem is that its just not that simple. There are 4 or 5 variables that can effect idle. If its been a while since it was last set up, I would suggest getting a dealer to do it for you, as you have CO levels, throttle body position, vacuums and a few other bits. If you find that from highish revs it stalls if you shut the throttle, just take it to a dealer and get it set up properly.

It might be worth checking your airfilter. If it's dirty it will be restricting the breathing.
