porcelain

I bought a kitchen table that has a spring loaded top to pull and make bigger the man told me it was porcelain. It looks like a darker butcher block with a solid brown trim around the edge. The botom is maple meaning the legs and the frame, there is one drawer. The x in the bottom reminds me of a tootsie roll with a hexagon in the center. The drawer on the bottom has a name carved in it that I cannot read but the date is either 1940 or 41. I was wondering if any one could tell me what it is and if they know what it is worth. I have been using it for a dinette table. It's not as wide as a regular one and was told it was a kitchen table. Thank You
