Here is a thread with a bit of information on Van Arsdale-Harris Lumber company. Just cut and paste in location:

www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=009k56 The only thing I can offer about Van Arsdale-Harris Lumber Co. is that they specialize in softwoods for the industry (boatbuilding, airplane construction, architecturally specced woods, and the like). They carry very large slabs of wood; Sitka spruce, Port Orford cedar, Alaskan spruce, etc. in lengths up to 24 feet or so. They also carry marine grade plywood. All top notch high quality stuff, Van Arsdale-Harris is not a lumberyard for the run-of-the-mill home improvement guy.

I haven't been there in over twenty years but I liked the place. Even if they did take a huge bite out of my pocket on each visit, I got what I needed. Good luck in your search.
