We are currently designing Catapults/Cannons in Physics 1. The constraints are that the catapult must fit in a 50 cm. by 50 cm. box (when disassembled if possible) and have a locking - firing mechanism. We are competing against other members in our class. There are targets positioned between 2 and 8 meters from the launch site. We are awarded points for hitting the targets, and awarded points for the max. distance it fires. I would like to know if thereis a best design/ firing mechanis for the maximum distance acquired, and what would work for the accuracy portion. (Note: no compressed air is allowed, but springs and bungee material are legal)
