Barista Training

Does anybody know of any barista training schools/seminars in Southern California? I don't expect to become a master barista after taking such a class, but I see it as a good way to 'jump start' my experience with making espresso drinks as well as dealing with the equipment.

Thanks!

Hello Devlyn, you could contact SCAA and see if they are scheduled to have a course in your area (their last course was in PA in December- http://scaa.org/espresso_lab.html). Maybe a better option would be to ask around some of the ower-operator establishments in your area. Most of these guys should have a real love and enthusiasm for coffee and may well share that with you during down-times in their business day. Best of luck- Alun

Devlyn if you can travel there is a brand new school in Portland Oregon. They offer training for individuals as well as coffee shops. Here is the website http://www.coffeeschool.org.

Why not learn hands on from someone that has worked in a fast paced, high volume place. Learn from some that can make a drink in under a minute and make it taste like it took longer. Learn from someone that really knows what they are doing.
