vcd wont play sound on dvd player

iam very very new to this so please be patient with me. ihave used power director pro 2.5 to convert my old videos to dvd iam recording them to mpeg2 and then burning them on my cd burner to vcd but when i play them on my dvd player i cant hear the recorded sound only the sound that i am editing on to it from the program power director could any one please help me

Never used Power Director, so I can only guess. VCD audio must be 224 Kbps and 44 Khz. It must also be MPEG-1 layer II audio, which is often simply called MPEG audio. If you are using any other format for your audio, that could be causing the problems. http://www.vcdhelp.com has some guides on converting that might help you, but I don't know if they have anything in particular of Power Director. TMPGenc is a good choice for encoding VCDs and I know they have guides on using it.
