I need insight and help to find relief from nerve pain after hip surgery.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

I am a 34 year female that has had 2 hip surgeries in the past 2 years. The first was a PAO osteotomy of the right hip and after constant pain and complications for an entire YEAR my doctors decided to do a hip replacement. When they went in they discovered that the osteotomy had not healed in the year and had to stabilize my pelvis with plates and screws. They performed the hip replacent anyway (a 12 hour surgery). It has now been 14 months since the surgery and I am almost to my limit of pain tolerance. I currently take Neurontin 1200 mg, Vicodin and Vioxx for pain with some relief. I also visited a pain management clinic with some worthwhile results, but it is now 1:24 a.m. here and I am still awake due to the pain and numbness/tingleing in my entire right leg! I need help! Please respond with any suggestions. I feel for all of the others who have posed questions here. I pray we all get results!

Hi Patricia I so know what you are going through, I also have had 2 hip replacements and both did not go well, The first left me with and inch and a half too long and the second has left me with alot of nerve damage, I really understand the pain,,,,,!!!!!!! I am on percoset, vicondin and also take a sleeping pill which is a musclle relaxer, The pain is constant, My surgery is going on 4 months post and I have been told it can take 6 months or longer but that the nerve repairs itself an inch a month, My Dr has been no help to me and I am just about at my wits end, I cannot walk without a walker, can you? I also use moist heat which seems to help. You can feel free to email me anytime and maybe we can find some answers, good luck we can beat this Diane
