Answers

Hamlet's father was Gertrude's previous husband (before Claudius). He was also named Hamlet. He was King of Denmark, and Claudius's brother. Claudius killed him to get both the position of King and Gertrude. He appears in the play in the form of his own spirit, the Ghost.
