Thank you all for your input on Alec Stern, however, I still do not have answers to the value of my Stern's three original sketches. If I lived near an auction house like Butterfield's etc., I would take me sketches in for an appraisal. I feel this would be the best avenue for us at this point. If you have any luck in getting values, please keep all of us informed.

I do not have an answer but will say if there are any interested collectors... I found a sketch by Alec recently in Melbourne, FL. The sketch is framed and matted and is named "Twilight Over The Golden Gate." This is a multi colored sketch showing an overlook of the city with the golden gte in he background emerging through a dense fog. If interested please email newplanetmedia@hotmail.com. Thanks

A very long time ago, when I was in North Beach, I bought 3 sketches from Alec Stern and have treasured them all these years. My favorite is "Cable Car Rush." I remember having an interesting conversation with him, as his sketches were my first purchase of art. It would be nice to know if he is still with us.

I do not have an answer, but I, too, have an original Alex Stern mounted and framed of the Golden Gate Bridge. I need to dispose of most of my belongings because of a move and would like to know the value of this particular work.

I found an Alec Stern titled "In The Rockies". I found it at a local antique shop for $25. It seems to be ink and pencil. I know nothing about him but would figure it must be worth more than $25 - very pretty.

I recently found a dealer in the UK who priced Alec Stern's "Wartime San Francisco" for US$318. This was represented as an original sketch. Another dealer in the St. Louis area had Alec Stern's "The Bridge-Fisherman's Wharf" for $75. This was represented as a copy of an etching.

I picked up an alec stern sketch in Petaluma, Calif. I believe it is an original. It seems taking it to Butterfield and Butterfield is the best bet. The sketch is entitled: Fasinating San Francisco (no date)

I HAVE "SIGNING OF THE CHARTER" UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE S.F.'45, STATE CAPITOL - CALIFORNIA '49, STANFORD CHAPEL AND ANOTHER THAT I AM UNSURE OF THE TITLE CAMPANILE, U.C. THESE WERE MY GRANDFATHERS AND HE SEEMED TO HAVE HAD THEM MADE FOR HIS COMPANY FOR CHRISTMAS CARDS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I COULD FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THESE.
