greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

My great uncle, Will Ulrich, ran the gambling (card room) at the St. Francis Hotel in early 1920's. I am interested in getting any information about him and his life during this period. Thank you.

Ok,

I remember reading something about some Ulrichs many years ago but I can't remember what it was. There is actually quite a number of Ulrichs in this area. One of them I remember is Cheryl Jennings of Channel 7 news. I remember her when she was a little girl. You see, Cheryl was married when she started working for Channel 7 in the mid 70s. Then she got divorced but her real name is actually Cheryl Ulrich. She'd probably kill me if she ever knew I let this out of the bag. And believe me, I'd hate to tangle with her because she has a lot of powerful friends that protect her jealously. Maybe she is related to your great uncle. Check with her. If I remember what it was I read about some Ulrichs years ago I'll let you know.

Now here is a very interesting memory flash that just came to me. One of the Ulrich sisters, (one of which was Sheryl Jennings), I can't remember how many sisters there were exactly but I think there were 4 or 5, married a Bill Smith. Ha Ha. It's a small city isn't it. I suppose you are the daughter Debbie. I got around a lot in my days. Ha Ha.

Mike Ulrich, possibly his son, owns Amazing Hair in Larkspur California
