How to convert RealOne video files for VCD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi,

I have a lot of RealOne Player video files that I would like to use to make VCDs.

I've been looking but I have yet to find a software that will convert my .rmv files to a vcd-compatible video format such as avi or mpeg.

Does anyone know where to find such software?

Thanks in advance.

Do a web search for a program called tinra. It converts Real Media files to AVI, which you must then convert to VCD. http://www.vcdhelp.com has some guides on converting between various formats. WARNING - Real Media files are usually of terrible quality, so the AVI file that tinra produces may not be very good. Garbage in, garbage out. Also, some people have reported that tinra fails to convert some Real Media files. If that happens, you are out of luck. Tinra either works or it doesn't and if it doesn't work on your files, there's nothing you can do about it.
