Poe felt his pinnacle was Eureka (1848), although few would share that view. 1845 is often considered his most succesful year. It saw the remarkable success of "The Raven," the publication of his Tales and The Raven and Other Poems, and he briefly held control over his own periodical ("The Broadway Journal").
