Can I play a homemade video CD on my DVD player?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Just wondering if I can play video files burned onto a CDR or CDRW in a DVD player (a PS2)? I had a friend who got a few video files to work a few times on his Apex DVD player, and I was wondering if using a CDR or CDRW had anything to do with it, and if there was software that I should use, or if I could just burn videos straight onto the cd and just let it play. Thanks.

PS2 won't play VCD at all, so it doesn't matter what you burn it to. http://www.vcdhelp.com has a lot of guides that might be helpful to someone new to the process of making their own VCDs.
