how to create the brochure to find a student?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Everything About Teaching and Learning the Piano : One Thread

Hi,

I am a piano student (grade 6, 17yo). I have no any teaching experienced and wish can start to teach a beginner.

My house is beside that of the kindergarten school. I would like to create the brochures then distribute to the parents who are waiting their kids in there. Is it the good idea? If so, but what I should write in my brochure?

Thank you.

Have you discussed this with your own piano teacher? That would be the first place to start. There is more to teaching beginners than you can possibly imagine. Please get your teacher's advice.

I have discussed with my teacher. She adviced me to find the students from the kindergarten school because I can't drive by myself and I wish can teach the students at my house.

My teacher doesn't know how to create the brochure because she has never made it. May be I have to wait until I can drive by myself to start teaching. I think, it's better I concentrate to my school.

Here is a link to a website which has many, many samples of Studio Policies and letters to parents. You could read them all and keep notes of the ideas you like. http://www.toddfamily.com/policies/Policies/Policies.htm

This site also has links to some piano teachers' webpages, so you can see what they look like. Maybe you could design a brochure in Word/Excel or equivalent using ideas from these sources. Also, be sure to read "Piano Home Page" (google search for it) for ideas about how to teach.
