Crock pickles : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

I found at our local market some nice glass crocks for pickles for very little money compared to their ceramic counterparts. They are $6+ for the one gallon, and $12+ for the 3 gallon. I think that is a really fair price considering. Does anyone here have experience with making crock pickles?

Thanks Nita. I also would be interested in knowing about keeping crock pickles like the oldtimey general stores did. By that I mean keeping them in the brine until use in a large crock.

Hey Little Bit!

I just put in an email to our resident canner and keeper of every recipe she's ever come across. I didn't find a recipe for crock pickles in her section but we'll see what she has on file.

I'll let you know what I hear.

Sorry, I haven't heard back from my canning person. But another reader had furnished a great sounding recipe. I'll see if I can't find it and see if it would work for what you are wanting to do. I have a few recipe sources, I'll go check them out. Good luck, Nita

Thanks Nita. I also would like you to check and see if the recipe is one I can add extra cukes to as I pick.
