possible reposession ?

I have a joint mortgage with an ex partner who has never made any payment towards the mortgage, I took legal advice as he was also violent and my solicitor & counsel told me to stop paying mortgage, the property is now on the market but i'm worried in case it can be reposessed, what sholud i do ?

Answers

The short answer is yes the mortgage lender can issue possession proceedings if the correct contractual instalment is not being paid.

Proceedings can normally be brought after one two or three missed payments. You will find the exact details in the Terms and Conditions of your mortgage.

I would contact your building society/bank immediately and make an appointment to see the manager so you can explain the situation to him/her, and hopefully come to some arrangement. Just leaving it will not help resolve the situation. Let us know how you get on. Good Luck.
