Services for Bro. Arthur Browngreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread
Service for Bro. Arthur Brown, connectional president of the Lay Organization will be held Thursday, July 3, at Mt. Vernon Avenue AME Church, 1127 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Columbus, Oh 43203 614-258-4323. Family will receive friends and visitors from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. with the service at 7:00 p.m.
Because Friday is a holiday, I'm guessing interment will be Saturday. Thursday is one of the biggest nights of the year in Columbus with our annual "Red White and Boom" (renamed for this year as "Red, White and Bicentennial Boom" in honor of Ohio's 200th anniversary)celebration downtown with a big parade and one of the largest fireworks displays in the Mid-west taking place at 10:00. It draws over 500,000 people to the downtown area for the celebration. The city's celebration takes place on July 3 so that it does not conflict with numerous community celebrations on July 4.
More details as I learn of them.

Dear L. W. Clark:
Please convey to the family that the 5th District Lay Organization Annual Convention was in session and I was unable to attend Brother Arthur Brown's funeral. We made a contribution to the donation made on behalf of the Connectional Lay Organization. I will send a telegram to the family and we are also preparing a resolution.
We are praying for comfort for the family.
