lubricant for clutch

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Hi I bought a murray 6.5 hp go cart second hand which did not have a service manual.

I understand the clutch must be de-assembled every couple of hours and an a lubricant sprayed on it that is heat resistant.

Please could you provide me with the name / brand name / type of lubricant required here!

thank you

I'll try to help you as much as I can. I have been a gocart owner for about 5 years now and I have always used Amsoil. It is the best. just go to amsoil.com . then check out the HDMP (Heavy Duty Metal Protecter) you can also use the regular MP (Metal Protector) but I have always used HDMP. It works great. Just spray it on the clutch and the chain and wait for it to dry. It puts a layer on that is resistant to dirt and water. Then about every ride or every two rides put a new layer on. you don't have to wait for it to dry now. oh yea I almost forgot make sure the clutch and chain is real clean before you put the first layer on. you can get a can for about 7 bucks and it last a longe time. good luck
