Last Chinese Gangster of China Towngreenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread |
When did the gangs of China Town die out? Who were the big shots? I have heard, like Times Square in New York, China Town is no longer such a dangerous place. I was wondering who was the last and when it came to an end. Thanks.

The gangs of China Town did not die out. They are still around. Don't kid yourself. There was a lot of extortion of small shop owners going around just a few years ago that was made public where they had to pay these gangs money for protection they didn't need. One of the biggest gangs I can remember about 10 years ago was the Fong Boys or Fong Brothers. I believe one of them ended up in prison for murder.
