Furnace Vent Fan does not shut off

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

I have a gas furnace at home. Yesterday, even though the furnace is on "Cool" mode, the vent fan came on and does not want to shut off. It stays On even if I turn the system off (using the thermostat). I switched the furnace to heat mode and the status light told me that the vent pressure switch was stuck open (obviously, the vent fan had been running).

How do I shut this fan off? I have currently turned the power to the furnace OFF.

I don't know if you can do it but for temporary relief--pull the wires going to the little vent motor. When they are disconnected it will shut off. Before heating season you will need a repairman to come have a looksee at it. Sounds like problems in the puter board-- just a guess tho. Could be in the t-stat wiring too. old hoot. Matt.24:44
