I have a Compaq MV540, Windows Millenium Edition computer. I have downloaded several .MPG or .MPEG video files to my computer. I have two drives, one, an F drive, is what I usually use to convert to data CDs or regular CD-Rs. I want to see the .MPEG files if possible on a TV set via my DVD player. Can I use a computer to convert the files and will my computer in the F drive recognize VCDs? What brand of VCD is recommended? I have tried this with DVD-Rs and it has not worked.

What you need is an encoder to encode the video file to mpeg-1 or mepg-2. You could use TMPGenc for this. Then you would need one of the softwares to write VCD. The mpeg file you have needs to be converted into VCD file structure before it could be copied to CR-RW or DVD-R/W. you could use Nero or Roxio Easy CD Creator for this purpose
