Hi, Can any one tell me where to find some online help on playing veena. I am unable to hire a tutor immediately would like to play veena. I play till geetham's. Wanted to learn further.

I was like you sometime back, and tried many recorded casettes that were used for vocal teachin of carnatic music.

From my experience I have a suggestion for you. Please don't try to do it on your own. While it is doable it is very difficult. You need a Guru, period. You need some one to correct when you make mistakes and you need some to teach you the 'bhava' of any 'sahitya' and the 'gamakams'.

You go to the site http://www.ecse.rpi.edu/Homepages/shivkuma/personal/music/index.html There you go to Geetham and varnam sections, click music class and lessons. The teaching is very good. they will teach very slowly. I am sure you will enjoy the site. Good Luck.
