Digi Gear Indicator

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I recently purchased an Acumen Digi gear indicator, this has a blue cool light as opposed to the red one of the Datatool variety. On the last service to Bains Racing @ Silverstone they couldn't fix it, due to the colour coded wiring on the MV not being the same as that on the Digi gear diagram. I spoke to David Martin at Acumen, with a view to returning the item, Dave offered to ride up from Andover to look and fix the Digi gear onto my MV. I was suprised that he would take this time and trouble, but he did come up on his bike, and spend the next 2 hrs sorting out the wiring. Looking at MV's own wiring colour codes they don't seem to be the same as that shown on their own wiring diagram (must of run out of some colours) Dave using some elctrical gizmo's identified the following wires going into the instrument panel:

Power = Violet/White Neutral = Green/Yellow Earth = Dark Blue Brown = Speed Sensor Tacho = Grey/Yellow

Once identified it was a fairly simple job to attach the Digi gear. My bike is a 2001 model. There has been some interest in this item from others and I post the info for them. The Digigear is excellent looks good and works well, for those of you who can always tell what gear they are in I apoligise. I cannot promise that David Martin will come out, but I can say that I found his product support excellent. On talking to David he is a biker through and through. This is an unsolicted comment For those of you interested the Web address is WWW.acumen-electronics.co.uk

Thanks for the report. It is good to hear stories of vendors that are customer- friendly.

Where did you mount the indicator? Any pictures?
