Main Beam Not Working ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

My headlamp main beam is not working. I have checked the bulb & fuse which are OK but there appears to be no power to the bulb.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Tony.

Tony - I have the exact same problem. If you test it with a test light, the test light comes on about half power. I've checked it down to the relay which was a little bit dirty. I tried to clean it up but no results. My bulb is good, as well as the fuse. My high beam works as well as all other electrics.

If you find a solution, please let me know. Any electrical geniuses out there?

Have similar problem.....I strip my bike a lot for trackdays, so I thought it might be me .....but seeing other guys have similar probs...maybe not. Pete

Hi

There was a similar problem when I bought mine (second hand) the dealer changed the relay and it all worked. The relay was 'nicked' from a ducatti 748 that was hanging around the shop, exactly the same. So if all fails try changing the relay.

Thanks for your replies.

Just to advise for anyone that has a similar problem I traced it down to the main beam relay located behind the upper fairing on top of the LHF air tube next to headlamp pod.

Didn't bother trying to get an MV one as ducati is the same so fitted that & all is OK.
