MULTIPLE VCD'S to ONE DVD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi,

I have been reading all kind of a instructions about burning multiple VCD compatible mpg's as in vob/sub files to one DVD that could be played on standalone.

I can author the VCD/MPG's so that all menus, vobs, ifos etc. are fine.

Only question is how to burn it with Nero?

Some people advice burning VIDEO_TS folder as a UDF 1.05 without joliet. Istead of using DVD movie from wizard. But this does not seem to work.

Any ideas?

I've never done this exactly, but assuming you know what you are doing, you should be able to author the DVD with some authoring program with each video as a separate clip and then just drag the whole contents of the VIDEO_TS directory the authoring software creates into Nero's movie DVD clipboard and burn. I've read about people saying various things about Joliet and Nero, although I haven't heard a recommendation to use UDF 1.05. I have seen recommendations to use UDF 1.02 though. Some versions of Nero had a very nasty bug that ruined DVD writing. It finally got fixed, but it's very likely you have a version of Nero with this problem if you think you are doing everything correctly and the burns are failing. You didn't say exactly what was happening here, so I don't know if Nero starts burning and fails or if it won't start at all. Download the latest and greatest Nero from http://www.ahead.de and upgrade and it will fix your problem if you think you might have the Nero bug.

I do this all the time Here is my method: convert the dat file to mpg using vcdgear 3.50 demux using tmpgenc into seperate audio and video files besweet to convert audio from 44.1k to 48k patch the headers using dvdpatcher 1.05 remux the audio/video then input into your favorite authoring program. Not NERO I do not think it can handle it but ifoedit is free All the above mentioned software is availible at www.doom9.org along with an abundance and wealth of info P.S. I am just about to try svcd2dvdmpg, it is suppose to automate the whole process availible at http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/SVCD2DVDMPG/? Hope this helped you out
