Otis Generator 83GA Diagram

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

Looking for an Otis Generator 83GA Diagram. A non-elevator company removed and rewound the generator for an old Otis elevator. The elevator was running fine prior to taking the generator out. In getting the generator back and reinstalling it, the motor company could not get the elevator to run correctly. We did find the leads were wired wrong, we think; yet, the elevator still does not run. Looking for an Otis Generator 83GA Diagram (we do have the controller prints already). Any tips or help would be appreciated. Thanks. Annabell

It is an 83GA Diagram we are looking for. Seems we always have jobs with Otis equipment that no one has ever heard of. Anyways, the Owner is trying to cut costs associated with the elevator and are trying to do their own repairs and/or bring in outside people to repair the elevator (besides their elevator service co.) The motor repair company came in to remove the generator, refurbish and reinstall it. During the reinstallation, the motor repair company could not get the elevator to work properly. Elevator would only run in the up direction. When we were made aware of the problem and brought in to the situation, we found that a couple of leads (series field) were backwards. Also found that the generator brushes were not placed in the correct position (from neutral). Still a bit of a leveling problem in both the up and down directions, and arcing. Simply looking for a Generator diagram, as we do not have one and thought it would help to see if the generator was refurbished/reinstalled correctly.

you've taken on someone elses stuffup.....give them the flick, or if its the money your after well you've bought it on yourself im afraid...or start billing the company that rewound it...they might then get it right

I run a motor shop in PA. If your flashing under load and not leveling at the floors, look at the interpoles. might be reversed. OOPSSS.
