hey man, i had the same dillema, i seldom FOUND even a good converter, much less one that actually work. So instead of doing all this other bullshit converting.

I just bought GAMARS VCD CARD, you install it on the inside of a PSone Now if you're talking about a PLAYSTATION (the old big ass gray ones) They have simple plug and play ones for the serial port in the back (which i wouldve preffered, but the PSone was a new gadget, couldnt resist)

Also moddedunits.com claims to have a plug and play one for ANY playstation, including the PSone and the old school one, but i havent seen any news on it, and when i email them i just get the run around.

Aside from that, i dont really suggest converting to str, i have close to 150 vcd movies, and i figured, "why just have 2 copies and 1 that cant play on anything else....."

Get the VCD card dude, its worth it The one i installed plays VCD 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0, and allows PBC

The program you can get here, http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main2.html, can convert all kinds of movies to VCD formats. Just download the program and use the programs conversion wizard to convert to the right format.

the $$ u spent on a vcd card is the same amout as u woulda spent on a video card with a tv out jack (that Way all the movies r still played as divx & r 4 times a clear as a vcd)
